How to read this page. It is written so you can check it: every claim about evidence hangs from a reference with its PubMed identifier, and we state just as plainly what is known and what is not. You will not find dosages or protocols anywhere on this site.

The ground it plays on

Hormones work in axes: a signal from the brain tells a gland to release another hormone, and so on down the chain, with brakes that shut the process off. Intervening at one point has consequences both upstream and downstream. That is why this is the group where professional assessment stops being a recommendation and becomes essential.

What it is studied for

Growth hormone deficiency and several syndromes.

There is a distinction that almost always gets lost. A compound being studied for something is not the same as achieving it. And even where it works in a dish or in a mouse, that says little about whether it works in a person or whether the benefit is worth the risk. The section below therefore carries more weight than everything above it.

What the human evidence says

It has decades of controlled trials and demonstrated efficacy in its approved indications, in children and in adults with deficiency. In healthy older adults, systematic reviews show modest changes in body composition without consistent improvements in strength, function or quality of life; in healthy athletes, meta-analyses find no gain in strength or aerobic capacity, and a 2010 trial recorded a short-lived improvement in sprint capacity.

The limitation that matters most

Part of the lean-mass gain measured in healthy people is retained fluid, and side effects (edema, carpal tunnel syndrome, joint pain, insulin resistance) increase with exposure. Long trials in people without deficiency that measure physical function and long-term safety are still missing.

Regulatory status

Approved by the FDA, the EMA and COFEPRIS for GH deficiency in children and adults and for several causes of short stature, always by prescription; since 2020 there are also approved long-acting analogs. Anti-aging and athletic use is not approved. For anyone who competes, WADA prohibits it at all times (section S2).

Status can change and varies by country. Always verify the rules in force where you live before drawing conclusions.

Cautions and context

Prescription medicine. Anti-aging and sporting use is not approved and is a criminal offence in some countries.

Before starting, ask for an endocrine workup with IGF-1 and stimulation testing, and review it with your doctor if you have diabetes, a past cancer or carpal tunnel syndrome.

This is not medical advice. Any decision about a compound in this encyclopedia belongs to a healthcare professional who knows your history, what you already take and your specific situation. If something you are using produces a new symptom, that is not something to observe — it is something to consult.

What this page cannot give you

A reference page can take you this far. You know what Somatropin (recombinant GH) is and where its research stands, which already puts you ahead of most readers. Four questions remain that no encyclopedia can answer for you, because the answers depend on your own situation:

That is what the course is for

PeptiXtreme is ${CIF.LECCIONES} lessons that hand out no numbers. Each one ends with your starting point, what to watch along the way, the specific questions you take to a professional and the signals that mean stop. It includes per-module exams, a Certificate of Completion with a verifiable certificate ID, a Progress Tracker to follow how you are doing, and a human advisor you can actually write to.

Frequently asked questions

What is Somatropin (recombinant GH)?

Human growth hormone manufactured by biotechnology. It is the real molecule, not something that stimulates its release. It is studied within the area of hormonal/sexual.

Is there human evidence for Somatropin (recombinant GH)?

It has decades of controlled trials and demonstrated efficacy in its approved indications, in children and in adults with deficiency. In healthy older adults, systematic reviews show modest changes in body composition without consistent improvements in strength, function or quality of life; in healthy athletes, meta-analyses find no gain in strength or aerobic capacity, and a 2010 trial recorded a short-lived improvement in sprint capacity.

Is it approved by any health agency?

Approved by the FDA, the EMA and COFEPRIS for GH deficiency in children and adults and for several causes of short stature, always by prescription; since 2020 there are also approved long-acting analogs. Anti-aging and athletic use is not approved. For anyone who competes, WADA prohibits it at all times (section S2).

What is the dose of Somatropin (recombinant GH)?

We do not publish dosages. This is not an oversight. No single figure works for everyone: the regimen depends on a person's medical history, on whatever medication they already take, and on the goal they are chasing, which is something a professional weighs with the case in front of them. What you can build is the ability to walk into that appointment knowing what to ask.

Where can I learn to evaluate this properly?

This page tells you what Somatropin (recombinant GH) is and what the evidence says. The PeptiXtreme course teaches the other half: what you would measure before considering anything, what you would watch, the specific questions you would take to a professional and when you would stop.
